Ibutamoren monograph

MK-677 (ibutamoren) is an oral ghrelin-receptor agonist. It makes the pituitary push more pulsatile GH, which raises IGF-1 downstream. It is not injected GH and it is not a direct GH-receptor drug. The usual tradeoffs are hunger, water retention, and worse insulin sensitivity. The hunger and water retention can be helpful, especially for strength — but it's not generally worth the effects on insulin sensitivity. Half-life is roughly a day, so once-daily dosing is what the pharmacology supports. It is not FDA-approved, and athletes should treat it as doping-relevant until they check the current list. In a narrow use-case, it has value.
