This is not a mainstream bodybuilding compound with solid human data. The best case is a speculative sleep/recovery/longevity aid; the worst case is you inject an unregulated peptide with unknown purity and no real dose standard. If someone wants a legit performance edge, this is not the first place to look. If they want to experiment anyway, they need to understand that nearly everything about dosing, half-life, and long-term safety is still guesswork. From a coaching standpoint, it is legally and medically dicey enough that I would not treat it like a normal supplement or a proven peptide.

Epitalon (Epithalon)
Overview
Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide originally studied in Russian/EE literature as a putative geroprotective compound, mainly for effects on telomere biology, circadian signaling, and age-related physiology. Human evidence is very limited, and there is no FDA-approved indication for it. In bodybuilding/performance circles it is marketed for sleep, recovery, and longevity, but that use is largely experimental and anecdotal.
Pharmacokinetics & Mechanism
- Class: Synthetic tetrapeptide; investigational anti-aging peptide
- Mechanism of action: Proposed mechanisms include upregulation of telomerase activity in vitro/animal models, modulation of pineal/circadian signaling, antioxidant/antistress effects, and possible effects on gene expression related to aging. These mechanisms are not well established in humans, and there is no validated clinical receptor-target model for performance use.
- Target(s): Not well established in humans. Preclinical literature suggests effects on telomerase-related pathways, pineal gland/circadian biology, oxidative-stress pathways, and broad gene-expression changes rather than a single receptor target.
- Route(s) of administration: Reported mainly as subcutaneous or intramuscular injection in experimental and community use. Oral bioavailability is not established and is generally considered poor for an unmodified peptide.
- Onset: Not well established. Community reports describe sleep/recovery changes within days to 1-2 weeks, but this is anecdotal and not a validated pharmacodynamic onset.
- Half-life: Not well established in humans. I could not verify a reliable human half-life from authoritative sources. Community references often assume short peptide-like clearance and use repeated daily dosing; do not treat any internet half-life claims as established fact.
- Metabolism / clearance: Not well established. As a small peptide, it is presumed to undergo rapid proteolytic degradation to amino acids/short fragments after parenteral administration, with renal/hepatic handling of metabolites, but this is not well quantified for epitalon in humans.
